Developing Faith

  • Under scholarly leadership of Sheikh Jaffer Jaffer, lectures, guided and interactive discussions, seminars and Q&As were delivered based on various themes that apply to living as a successful and growing Muslim in the west
  • Increased segment specific programming tailoring each to enhance learning, such as fiqh session with A’alima Sabiha Jaffer for the ladies
  • Acquired new and quality books and faith-based materials from several publishers under the guidance of Sheikh Jaffer, to offer to the community via the Masumeen Tabligh Bookstore
  • Hosted a diverse group of visiting scholars and reciters for programs and events that fostered the growth of knowledge and spiritual upliftment.
  • Initiated monthly graveyard visitation at Meadowvale Cemetery to remember the deceased

Ladies’ Programs

  • Organized faith-based discussion sessions with Aalima Sabiha Jaffer
  • Hosted visting reknowned speakers – Zakiras – to deliver Muharram Ashra majalis
  • Engaged young ladies going on a Fall retreat under guidance of Aalima Sabiha Jaffer
  • Promoting creativity in the community by hosting paint nights, baking challenges

Youth Engagement

  • Encouraging youth to develop innovative and engaging events resulting in programs such as Maghrib Games, Sehri nights, etc
  • Empowering youth to organize practical Life Skills Learning programs for the community such as Tire Changing, Self-Defence, etc
  • Supported youth participation in various external collaboration events such as Care4 Toronto
  • Provided platform for youth to organize numerous learning sessions with resident and visiting scholars on a variety of religious topics

Seniors' Engagement

  • To counter loneliness that resulted from Covid closures, organized dinner outings for seniors to meet, socialize, play and eat
  • Organized road trips to Hamilton as part of the ISIJ seniors road trip initiative to visit the Razavi Community Centre and socialize with other seniors of the community
  • Encouraged seniors to participate in the nature trail walks that resulted in overwhelming great feedback of the experience
  • Held various Get togethers for seniors to socialize, interact, play and eat.
  • Promoted active lifestyle by inaugurating pickleball and yoga for seniors
  • Organized various workshops such as ‘Getting the best out of your medication’, ‘Healthy Eating for Seniors’, etc, where Seniors practical ways to improve their lifestyle

Outreach

  • Partnership with Peel Regional Police, and the City of Brampton to develop training content and organize training sessions on countering hate crimes, as well as Run-Hide-Defend training.
  • Supported the Marten Falls First Nation Community with access to clean drinking water
  • Partnership with City of Brampton to host the annual Islamic History Month to appreciate the contribution of Islam in our society
  • Continued to hold annual inter-faith iftars promoting Solidarity, Empathy, Reflection and Giving

Sustainability

  • Introduced self-serve capabilities for making donations, majlis sponsorships bookings, rental payments and more
  • Accounting processes were performed with 0 audit findings
  • Receiving continued support Region of Peel Waste Compost Waste collection during Ramadhan
  • Empowering volunteers with a green thumb with management of community garden and contributing proceeds of the yields to the food bank.
  • Leveraging cloud capabilities to digitize operational and administrative processes and procedures enabiling remote functionality

Improving Community Experience

  • Enhanced the ladies washroom amenities, adding an accessible washroom and improving exisiting amenities
  • Improved climatization in 2 prayer halls enhancing congregation comfort
  • Increased usage of Masumeen Community House, 7570 Kennedy Rd by opening a Fitness Centre and enabling a Multi-Purpose Room suitable for education, meetings and games.
  • Partnering with the ISIJ GOBL Task Force to improve consistencies in GOBL on governance and processes of all ISIJ centres
  • Increased collaboration with other ISIJ committees and work streams to improve operational consistency in offering community service

Elevating Technology Footprint

  • Enabled state-of-the art seamless wifi connectivity across both Masumeen Islamic Centre and Masumeen Community House
  • Improved building security by implementing enhanced access control with state-of-the-art systems, better CCTV coverage,
  • Enhanced video infrastructre introducing a dozen of new capabilities that enhance in-person and online congregation experience
